4. National Geographic

The National Geographic tree grows along the Tall Trees Grove loop trail on the flat above Redwood Creek. Its height can be measured from across Redwood Creek. The tree was included in the July 1964 National Geographic magazine redwoods feature and was termed “Third Tallest Tree” at 364.3 feet in height. More recently this tree has also been referred to as Nugget.

The average diameter at 4.5 feet above ground is 14.4 feet

The latest published height measurement for National Geographic was 373 feet in 2015.

The year 2000 published height was 367 feet.
